iPhone 14 pricing raises controversy before launch
Leaks revealed that Apple plans to increase the prices of the new iPhone 14 Pro models, and reports revealed that the standard iPhone 14 models will also receive a price hike, although they are almost unchanged from their predecessors, according to Al Arabiya Net.
Speaking to The Sun, Dan Ives, head of renowned analyst group Wedbush Securities, cited supply chain prices as the driving force behind the increase, according to Forbes and Al Arabiya.net.
"We think the iPhone 14 price increase will go up by $100," Ives said. “Price has been increasing across the entire supply chain, and Apple needs to pass those costs on to the consumer in this release.”
Analysts suggested that the iPhone 14 lineup will be priced as follows:
iPhone 14 at $ 899, compared to the price of $ 799 for the iPhone 13, and the iPhone 14 Max at $ 999, which will be an alternative to the iPhone 13 Mini at a price of $ 699, while the iPhone 14 Pro will be priced at $ 1099, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at $1,199.
And while $100 will take a toll, especially on the standard models, which will feature the same design, rear cameras, and chipset as the iPhone 13, the big financial hit comes with raising the entry point from $699 to $899 for the budget iPhone. Because of this increase of about 30%, Apple stopped using the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini in favor of the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, which is likely to be called the iPhone 14 Plus.
