WhatsApp is testing a new feature to “disappear messages” from conversations
WhatsApp recently started testing the extended time limit for the “Delete for Everyone” feature and now it appears that the company is planning to introduce the ability to select multiple conversations and enable hidden messages for them.
This means that to enable messages to disappear for multiple conversations, users need to open them one by one and enable them.
And WABetaInfo revealed that the company has started testing the ability to select chats and enable messages to disappear for them once, and the feature, according to the report, is currently being rolled out via the new WhatsApp Beta update version 2.22.16.8 through the Google Play Beta Program.
What does this mean for users?
For starters, the feature will make enabling or disabling hidden message options for multiple conversations easier and faster, and also, it will save some time as well.
How does the feature work?
According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will be integrated into the disappearing messages option, and users will be able to find it as an additional link inside the section that says "Apply the time of this message to existing chats by selecting it."
We assume that clicking on this link will open a list of all active chats or groups and users can simply click on it to enable the message timer.
One thing to note here is that users will not have the option to set a different timer for different conversations in this case.
